Blair Hamilton

(1949-2011)

Blair Hamilton had more than 30 years of experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy. His work ranged from basic energy materials research to energy policy analysis, and focused on:

  • Building energy analysis
  • Building monitoring and performance evaluation
  • Energy program design and evaluation
  • Low-income energy programs
  • Program delivery management
  • Design and implementation of energy efficiency financing
  • Solar energy system design and evaluation
  • Efficiency and renewable energy potential studies
  • Energy performance contracting

Blair led the formation of the nation’s first energy efficiency utility, Efficiency Vermont, and was the author of more than 50 publications on energy efficiency and renewable energy. He received the Champion of Energy Efficiency Award from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) in 2002, and in 2003, accepted an innovation award from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government on behalf of VEIC. In 2010, Blair received an honorary law degree from Vermont Law School for his commitment to environmental and social justice.
